History of today’s Bulgarian lands, the book covers the time from the advent of the first inhabitants of those lands and the first acknowledged ‘symbolic thinking’ through the Golden Prehistoric Civilization and the Civilization of Thracians, through Rome, the Eastern Roman Empire and Medieval Bulgaria, through the Ottoman conquest, through the struggles for national liberation and the wars for national unification, through the participation in the First and Second World Wars, through the Totalitarian Regime and finally through the contemporary democratic changes.

What has been created by generations of Bulgarians and their predecessors in these lands illuminates the presence of Bulgaria in the thousands of years of development of the European Civilization.
